General
High Plains Technology Initiative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing hands-on technology education, mentorship, and workforce development for high school and college students in Goshen County and rural Wyoming.
High school students, college students, recent graduates, and self-taught learners in Goshen County and surrounding Wyoming communities are eligible. We welcome participants regardless of prior technical experience or formal enrollment status.
No prior experience is required. Our programs are designed to accommodate beginners while also providing advanced learning opportunities for more experienced participants.
Programs are primarily held in Goshen County, Wyoming. Specific locations are announced for each workshop and event. We also provide some remote learning opportunities.
Programs & Curriculum
We offer programs in Linux & Systems, Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), Cybersecurity, Software Development, AI & Automation, and Career Development.
Program length varies by track. Most workshops run 2-4 hours, while comprehensive programs can span several months. Participants can engage at their own pace based on their schedule and learning goals.
All programs emphasize hands-on, practical learning through real projects and systems. We prioritize building through doing rather than theory alone.
Yes! Many participants engage with multiple programs simultaneously. We encourage exploring different technical areas to discover your interests and strengths.
Our programs prepare participants for industry certifications including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, CompTIA, and Cisco certifications. We provide grant assistance for certification exam costs.
Costs & Financial Support
All High Plains Technology Initiative programs, workshops, and mentorship opportunities are free for participants. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we're committed to making technical education accessible to all students in Goshen County.
We provide grant assistance for certification exam costs for eligible participants who demonstrate commitment to the program and complete preparation requirements. Certification grants typically cover AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, and CompTIA exams.
While participants are encouraged to use their own laptops when possible, we work to provide access to necessary equipment and technology resources for those who need them.
As a nonprofit organization, all our programs are provided at no cost. We also offer certification exam grants and may provide additional support for eligible participants based on need and program engagement.
Application & Enrollment
Visit our Apply page to submit an application as a student participant. The application includes basic information about your background, interests, and goals. We review applications on a rolling basis.
We accept applications on a rolling basis throughout the year. Programs and workshops are announced regularly, and participants can join at various entry points.
After submitting your application, our team will review it. If approved, you will receive login credentials via email within 1-2 weeks. Approved students also receive email notifications about upcoming workshops, events, and learning opportunities.

Time Commitment & Schedule
Time commitment varies by program. Workshops typically require 2-4 hours. Comprehensive programs benefit from 5-10 hours per week, but you can participate at your own pace based on your schedule and goals.
